#classicalbumtweets will be coming up shortly. Got my copy of Weezer's Blue Album ready to go. pic.twitter.com/oKS2GIDYyI

Pushing play on The Blue Album...now. #classicalbumtweets pic.twitter.com/73sntjyui5

"My Name Is Jonas" kicks it off. Didn't have enough money as a kid to buy it in '94. Had to wait several years... #classicalbumtweets

...so after hearing all the singles for years, imagine my surprise to hear an acoustic guitar as the first sound. #classicalbumtweets
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
It felt delightful to not only bask in the Blue Album, but the first track was undeniably them: quirky, heavy & catchy. #classicalbumtweets

I hear the Ric Ocasek touch most on "No One Else." Similar chord progression & crunch to Cars' "My Best Friend's Girl." #classicalbumtweets

"I want a girl who laughs for no one else." Rivers Cuomo understood younger me so well. #classicalbumtweets

"The World Has Turned and Left Me Here" is my least favorite. Likely has to do with placing between awesome 1-2 punch and the key singles.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
There was no pure burst. Not much of a climax, but I would still smile if someone played it on a jukebox at a bar. #classicalbumtweets

Shhh... "What's with these homies dissing my girl?" #classicalbumtweets pic.twitter.com/thGIVSAga9

"Buddy Holly" was as perfect a pop guitar earworm as you could find in '94. And there were plenty in that era. #classicalbumtweets
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
Has a music video ever been more responsible for an artist's fame than "Buddy Holly?" Maybe Missy "The Rain?" pic.twitter.com/9KRLtlpwyx

My intro to Weezer, much like a lot of people, was through the "Undone" vid. Saw these guys who looked unusually normal for MTV and loved it
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
"Undone" has such a polite sludge to it. Can't think of another album where Cuomo mixes his Beach Boys/heavy metal influences so perfectly.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
As much as I love adorable dogs, Patrick Wilson stole the show in the "Undone" video. #classicalbumtweets pic.twitter.com/WXBP72X8wb

"Surf Wax America" makes me think of what would have happened if Brian Wilson spent more time on Sunset Strip in the '80s or CBGB's in '70s.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
"Say It Ain't So" was the moment I knew I loved Weezer. It's sound was very derivative of alternative sound at time, but more tuneful.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
My goodness, that guitar solo was so heroic. It hammered home anguish, yet it didn't feel cloudy. #classicalbumtweets
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
Can I mention for a second my disappointment at the lack of content in the CD booklet? I will always dislike that. pic.twitter.com/TqQU2ZaT2D
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
I'm pretty sure "In The Garage" was influenced thematically in some way by Beach Boys' "In My Room." Most of Blue Album has a WWBWD feel.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
"Holiday" was one of those late album joys that could have easily been a single. Joy is a fitting word for the sound of this album.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
Don't necessarily mean that the content is joyful, but these guys sound like they had the time of their lives while recording. I can hear it
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
You can really hear that joy on "Only In Dreams." 8-minute epic where four 20-somethings act out their rock n' roll fantasies.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
That build-up, y'all. #classicalbumtweets
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
I've long gotten over Matt Sharp no longer being in the band, but when I listen to that bass line on "Only In Dreams," I sigh sometimes.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
So interesting how The Blue Album wasn't a huge hit in its day, but it's revered as one of the alternative era's gems 20 years later.
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
I consider myself an underdog, which probably explains why I was so drawn to Weezer back in the day. #classicalbumtweets
— Eloquent 2-Year Old (@hecticivan) December 13, 2014
That wraps up this month's #classicalbumtweets. Every 2nd Sat. For Jan., if you lose, then ask no questions why: Curtis Mayfield's Superfly!
